It wasn’t so very long ago that the only accommodation to be found on the island was a basic rented room in town or a hotel. Nowadays, however, there is something to suit everyone’s taste and pocket. You can choose from staying in town and enjoy being able to get everywhere on foot and feeling like part of the community, or you can find something out in the countryside or near to the sea if you are wanting to get away from it all.
The most simple and economical option is still a rented room and they are easy to arrange except for at the very peak of the season (i.e. in August) as, at every boat’s arrival, there will be room owners waiting at the port. Almost all rooms in Skopelos now have air conditioning, a fridge and a balcony at the very least. Most rented rooms are in Skopelos town or on its outskirts, but there are also rooms near most of the main beaches, for example in Elios and Glossa.
If you are looking for accommodation with more facilities, there is a selection of hotels to choose from, ranging from 2 stars through to 5 stars. Again, the majority of hotels are to be found in Skopelos town, but there are also some at the main beaches and in Loutraki.
If, however, you prefer to have the option of self catering, or to have more space, you might like to book a studio, an apartment, a villa , cottage or a town house. There is now a really wide range of villas and houses on Skopelos available to rent, from a small one bedroom town house to four bedroom villas with private pool that can sleep up to 8 people.
